Truth is always somewhere nearby...

Often it happens that in search of something unusual we go beyond the mark, lose the main point of things around us, not noticing, that what we are looking for is at our fingertips :). For example, in this composition, the idea of which came to us when we were in Metro.

The theme is simple enough. Astronomer is watching the sky and stars in search of answer to eternal questions. He is not young yet, and his telescope was broken many times because of decay. But his enthusiasm is unflagging, you can see it in the glitter of young eyes. At the same time, from other side of telescope, an unearthly tiny creature is studying the astronomer with wonder and curiosity. It also wants to look through telescope to understand what for this human being is looking so long through it. In whole, the composition tells us about men's misbelieves, when we try to explain the mighty power of nature with the ride tool as our intellect.

There are so many incredible things that are impossible to get outside of only with our intellect. The truth is read between lines. Answer to eternal questions is everywhere, is around us! Especially, when you start to ask yourself right questions. Truth is always somewhere nearby :)

How it’s made

Oh. The process of creating take us about a month. By means of long sought, by trials and errors we chose the material for our “skeleton”. First it was made from foam plastic, as this material is light and easy to cut. Having created billets for “feet” of telescope, we strengthened them with Paperclay outside. But when we were pasting-up upper part of telescope it is occurred to be heavier, and the paint that was on the foam plastic “ate” it.

That’s why we made a wise but untimely decision (there was a little time before the exhibition started) to redo this part of framework. So we chose another material for our “skeleton”, it was ply-wood. The skeleton became heavier, but the form was smooth-faced, and the painting and fixation of upper part of the telescope were not a problem from then on. Also among the details of telescope you can see wheels from cars for children and other construction details. All these things came in handy. :)

Some notes: for making our characters we used Paperclay, then the figures were colored with acrylic paints, the clothes were sewed by hand, and telescope was made of fragments of water – pipes.

The composition took part in Moscow Fair 2009 and was exhibited in Puppet Gallery of Vakhtangov

Welcome!

    Hi Everybody!
Welcome to boundless world of ideas and real opportunities! It is a diary of our creative workshop ShtoochWork designHere you can get to learn more about works, ideas and views on life. So, welcome…

Our friends are people who don’t pay attention to the little nothings of life. We just live and do what we like. Here everyone’s morning starts when one wakes up without the alarm-clock. We have no duties, but we have personal responsibilities for the common cause! We use our watches only for not to be late for the appointment, and not to look at it when the working day is over.

We are looking for ideas everywhere. In the row of waves, in the dancing of leaves in the wind, in rolls of thunder and glittering of lightings. In delicate taste of ice-cream in a hot summer day or cold winter evening, in metro, in a car, in the airport, in the shining of far planets, in rhythms of city wires, in the music of nature, in the beard of Santa Claus from Coca-Cola advertisement, in the deep silence. Outside and inside…
